  • It's easy to make ur content read nicer

    article > * { max-width: 65ch; }

I read a lot of technical blogs and I wish more had a rule like the above. Aim for between 65-75ch would be my advice, based on your font's width.

  • pov british people when the rain arrives after a heat wave

A computer generated graphic of a human head that’s semi-transparent so you can see the brain. Beams are going in and out indicating a galaxy brain situation.

It’s all dark themed but the head and beams all have a neon effect with a blue hue.

  • can anyone remember how to hide obsidian's default icons in the sidebar? They've re-appeared and I don't like it.

A tree-view structure that has various items in one level of nesting. Each item has a custom icon, but also a default folder icon

  • Knowing Trump and how he is, a logical de-escalation strategy would be to relentlessly pin him as Netanyahu’s lap dog because it’s clear how fragile Trump’s ego is and how thin-skinned he is.

The mainstream press are already in full fucken war porn mode though so unlikely.

  • Pro tip: if a subscription service requires you to call/email to close your account (so a retention agent can beg you to stay), put in a GDPR request to delete all your data in line with your right to be forgotten.

    Works every time.

  • The @ffconf.org lot are good eggs. Their newsletter is good too!

    ffconf.org

    A clip from a newsletter:

This week we were drawn to Andy Bell's/Set Studio's Support Piccalilli.

The page title doesn't quite do the page justice, the core tennant being: This isn’t the internet we want - this is a value that FFConf also drives towards.

Piccalilli aims to contribute towards the better web through their open and public development process, teaching you along the way - that's a great reason to check the resource out but also share it with the newcomers to the industry.

What's even more important, to us, is trying to find a way that we (that is, all of us) can contribute something positive towards keeping the web open to everyone. The sad alternative is shrugging and accepting that large corporations control everything, jobs can be swapped for AI agents, and junior jobs are headed for the void.

But if all that's a bummer, here's something we found to temporarily cheer us up!

  • Says well known hospital respecters

Iran strike on hospital is 'criminal' - Israeli minister

Israel's deputy foreign affairs minister has called Iran's strike on Soroka Hospital "deliberate" and "criminal".

Sharren Haskel, posting on X, says the site that was struck is "not a military base" but "a hospital", adding that this is the main medical centre for Israel’s entire Negev region.

She also shares a video that appears to show damage inside the hospital.

"The world must speak out," Haskel says.
