I’m genuinely enjoying social media again
I used to really enjoy Twitter, even if it is a complete hell zone. Almost certainly, amongst all the hell, there would be one tweet that would have me chuckling all day.
This is a bit like saying I used to really enjoy motorway pile-ups because there would be at least one thing I saw in the queue that would make me chuckle all day. Completely unhealthy outlook right?
The reality is I wasn’t actually enjoying Twitter. I was enjoying chatting to my mates, but I was really miserable on there and felt I had to be there.
The TTRG (time to reply guy) was getting so fast, that I can’t actually remember the last time I tweeted something helpful like a design or development tip. I just couldn’t be arsed, knowing some dickhead would be around to waste my time with whataboutisms and “will it scale”?
There doesn’t seem to be much of that going on, on Mastodon yet. I hope there won’t be, but as the user base grows, the probability of reply guys grows with it. It’s also probably the fact I have much less followers there which is honestly, a bloody dream.
Anyway, until things do degrade (I’m hopeful they won’t), I’m going to continue enjoying myself because as it stands, checking in on Mastodon is actually fun.
