We’re looking for advertisers on Piccalilli

We quite recently set up advertising on Piccalilli, but explicitly not in the tracking users and polluting the reading experience sense.

I was (and am still not) comfortable with rolling ads because they have such a bad reputation — rightly. The problem is, running Piccalilli is not free, so the idea is that ads sustain the platform.

The main thing ads sustain — and what I want to hugely ramp up — is guest authors. We’ve had some absolutely top class content published on Piccalilli from genuine experts in the industry that have an unbelievable level of experience in design, development and even content design. If we can book up the ad slots, we can commission more experts to write content.

I feel like our restrictions on adverts — no tracking, no JavaScript and no images — probably kneecaps us a bit, but I won’t move from that position. The only important thing is that the reader has the best possible experience. If ads become antithetical to that, then they go. We’re already exploring alternatives anyway.

I do really want to make ads work in their current form though, so if you work at an organisation that advertises, why not give us a go? I know for a fact, the companies that have already advertised have been incredibly happy with the outcome and the biggest plus: you will be directly funding high quality education for the real world. A win-win!

We’ve got slots available from May for both the newsletter and the exclusive banner ads.
